I slowed my step
watching the lodge carefully
the bamboo leaves was increasingly shade and skewed
but the lodge was still the same
as the last time I came
nothing has changed
when I opened the door
as if I saw my grandmother
sitting in her rocking chair
staring out the window…. humming
then I see myself come, clinging and question her
you are humming grandmother,…. what song?
oo …. just follow the song of bamboo leaves my dear
a dragonfly passed by in front of my face
disperse my musings
I enter the lodge and sit on grandma’s rocking chair
try to understand the thing that she did
in silence …. I began to hear
a lovely song
I let it flow within this soul
to blend with the memories of my childhood
the song of bamboo leaves
filled my longing of grandma’s warm hug

I just re-read this poem again. It really is a very moving piece and comes sweeter to the tongue with each reading. Thank you so much for sharing it. It is a poem of pure essence, like attar of rose.
Thank you John, I am happy you like it.
Have a wonderful Sunday!
One of your sweetest works! Very moving. It is hard in such a short space to build in so much imagery and hint at so much that is left unsaid. To be honest, I am jealous. In a good way! 🙂
Oh no …., maybe I was in a good mood when writing it my dear friend.
A mesmerizing memory, embraced by a forever love that will always be! Your words always lift as also the love in your smile and heart that you always share. May your day shine as radiant as your words! Much love always dear sister!

O… I am glad you like it Soumya.
My grandmother also taught me the song of the bamboo. I remember none of her words. I suppose that she spoke but her wisdom was imparted through her peace. It is a beautiful poem.
A lot of things had been taught by old people which having a huge meaning.
Warm regards to you Gretchen,
Follow the song
Thank you Rgnout, love to have you here.
Beautiful! I now want to plant bamboo and wait for a dragonfly to visit!
You have to… the scraping sound of bamboo leaves really amazing.
Love to you,
This was a very gentle and soothing piece and the imagery of your words almost let me walk with you into the lodge and hear the song of the bamboo. Very nice.
I would love walk with you. One day if you come to Indonesia, I would invite you to go there … really quiet and peaceful. We did not provide TV or radio to prevent the hustle bustle of the world. Just the singing bamboo and the sound of waves in distance.
Always love to have you here Paul.
Love every part of this…and the title captured my attention. Very well written…
I am glad you like it Boomie.
Thank you so much.
